The Mijas Town Hall and the Diputación de Málaga have launched a gardening and landscape restoration course in Las Lagunas, aimed at 15 individuals from vulnerable groups.

The training program, lasting 210 hours and highly sought after by companies, aims to enhance employment insertion in the municipality. The mayor of Mijas, Ana Mata, and the provincial employment delegate, María del Carmen Márquez, attended the course opening, which is part of the EnRuta Project and co-financed by European funds.
The main objective of the program is to equip participants with the necessary tools to increase their motivation for job searching, enhancing their skills and capabilities. The philosophy of the EnRuta Project is to train individuals and reorient profiles based on current employment opportunities in the territory, as well as to provide practical experience and foster entrepreneurship among those facing difficulties.
Also present at the inauguration were the councilors for Employment Promotion, Juan Carlos Maldonado; Parks and Gardens, Daniel Gómez; and Infrastructure, Juan José Torres. All emphasized that the training includes follow-up and intermediation to increase the hiring rate of participants.
The registered participants meet the requirements of the EnRuta Project, being unemployed and job seekers. Priority is given to groups such as long-term unemployed, individuals over 45 (particularly women), people with disabilities (33% or higher), or those in socio-economic vulnerability with a Social Services report.
To receive final recognition, it is essential to have completed the programmed training, passed the evaluation tests, and attended at least 75% of the total hours. The project is co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) through the 2023 call for aid from the Employment, Education, Training, and Social Economy Program (EFESO).
This initiative includes training and practical actions in companies across diverse sectors such as hospitality and tourism, commerce and marketing, logistics, administration and management, agri-food, textiles, construction, and physical or sports activities.
