The municipality of Mijas will host a specialized National Police vehicle, known as the Comprehensive Documentation Vehicle (VIDOC), on May 7. This unit will allow residents to process the issuance or renewal of their National Identity Document (DNI) and passport without needing to travel to other locations. This service will be provided at Cortijo Lagar Don Elías, thanks to a collaboration agreement with the Mijas City Council.
To access this service, interested parties must request an appointment at the Citizen Attention office of the Las Lagunas Deputy Mayor's Office. Fifty appointments are scheduled for each day of VIDOC activity. After this initial visit, the vehicle will return to Mijas on future dates yet to be decided, as part of an itinerant program by the National Police to bring these procedures closer to the public.
“"Thanks to the collaboration with the National Police, this unit will allow many citizens, especially the elderly, those with reduced mobility, or those with difficulties in traveling, to carry out this essential procedure without having to leave our municipality."
The processing fee for the DNI will be 12 euros, while for the passport it will be 30 euros, and payment must be made in cash. It is important to note that each appointment corresponds to a single procedure; therefore, if a person needs both documents, two appointments will be assigned. Applicants must provide recent photographs, except in cases of duplicates due to theft, loss, or damage.
For minors, only one parent needs to be present for DNI issuance. However, for passports, both parents must sign the authorization in person, whether for the first issuance or renewal. If one parent cannot attend the appointment time due to professional obligations, they may go to the VIDOC from its opening to sign their part of the authorization.
