The Mijas City Council has completed the works for the Los Santos car park, located in Las Lagunas. The facility, which involved an investment of 15.7 million euros, will have a capacity for 272 vehicles and is scheduled to become operational next September.
Currently, operators are in the final testing phase for the ventilation, air conditioning, barriers, elevators, and fire safety systems. These checks will take place throughout the remainder of July and August, prior to the official reception by the City Council. The electrical connection is the next step, for which the council is finalizing the contract with the supplier.
The reorganization of spaces has allowed for an increase of 38 spaces beyond the original project's capacity, reaching a total of 272. Of these, 200 will be offered as monthly subscriptions for local residents at a price of 50 euros per month, following a draw held in March. The remaining 72 spaces will operate on a rotational basis for any driver upon payment of a ticket.
The car park, which occupies the underground area of La Cala, Mijas, and Los Olivos squares, is connected via San Matías street and has four levels. It includes an entrance ramp from San Jorge street and an exit ramp in the plaza de Mijas, both located on the central median. Additionally, there are two pedestrian access points with stairs and an elevator to ensure universal accessibility.
