The Operational Services Area of the Mijas City Council is implementing improvements to horizontal signage in different parts of the municipality. The main objective is to increase safety for both vehicular traffic and pedestrians.
These actions are part of the regular signage maintenance plan carried out with internal resources. Recently, work has been done in the parking lot of El Bombo beach, on Avenida de El Descubrimiento, where new signage has been painted to reorganize existing spaces, optimize area, and facilitate circulation.
The councilor responsible for the area, Daniel Gómez, explained that these measures are applied in various neighborhoods and urbanizations throughout the municipality. In recent days, interventions have also taken place in the La Ponderosa and Polarsol areas, repainting pedestrian crossings. In Calahonda, work related to driveways, motorcycle parking, and spaces for people with reduced mobility has been carried out.
The improvement plan will continue in the coming weeks in the vicinity of schools, preparing for the start of the next academic year. Subsequently, actions will extend to Mijas Pueblo, including key points such as the area around Plaza Virgen de la Peña.
Gómez also announced that a contract with a specialized signage company will be launched soon. All interventions are carried out in consensus with the Traffic and Public Road departments.
