The bases for this aid program, published today in the Official Gazette of the Province, allow applications to be submitted starting tomorrow, Friday, August 21st, for fifteen business days through the municipal electronic headquarters. The Councilor for Youth, Melisa Ceballos, highlighted that the total available amount exceeds that of the last call (€44,540) and that the program is reduced from four to three tiers, eliminating the one for the highest income levels.
The Mijas City Council reinforces its commitment to these grants, increasing the funds for each of the three existing tiers. Tier 1, for lower incomes, rises from €440 to €550 (a 25% increase). Tier 2 is increased from €300 to €450 (a 50% increase), and Tier 3, from €160 to €200 (a 25% increase).
Ceballos explained that support for university students is renewed and expanded. The grants are awarded through a competitive bidding system, based on family income levels. Income determination is made using data from the State Tax Administration Agency and the Municipal Register of Inhabitants.
Eligibility requirements include being between 18 and 35 years old, registered in Mijas for at least the five years prior to the application, and having been enrolled in a formal, in-person university academic program during the 2025-2026 academic year at an institution outside of Mijas. Applicants must not have received similar grants for the same need in the same academic period, must have enrolled in at least 36 credits and passed 50% of the enrolled credits, and must not be subject to any disqualifications under the General Subsidy Law.

Given that the subsidized activity (transport to a university center) is already completed at the time of the call, the documentation submitted with the application will be considered proof of compliance with the requirements and the subsidy's purpose.
