The program will begin at 12:00 PM with the flamenco performance, followed by the paella tasting starting at 1:30 PM. To facilitate access, a shuttle bus service will be available.
The Councilor for Tourism, Francisco Jerez, explained that this initiative is part of World Tourism Day and aims to involve Mijas in this international celebration. "We want tourists, visitors, and residents to come and share this day with us," stated Jerez, highlighting the traditional and open nature of the event.
The celebration coincides with the end of the summer season, a crucial period for commercial and hospitality businesses. "The presence of visitors generates activity in our shops, bars, and restaurants, directly impacting the local economy," affirmed the councilor. Jerez recalled that tourism is Mijas's main industry and stressed the importance of maintaining the destination's appeal year-round.
The Department of Tourism is working on de-seasonalizing tourism to increase winter visits, targeting tourists who seek longer stays, golf, and the mild climate of the Costa del Sol. "The challenge is to continue receiving visitors in the summer while also increasing their arrival during the winter," concluded Jerez, emphasizing Mijas's capacity to offer attractions throughout the twelve months of the year.
The City Council encourages everyone to participate in this day that will combine tradition, gastronomy, and the promotion of the municipality.
