The Mijas City Council continues with its parking plan after awarding the projects for the future facilities next to Indira Gandhi CEIP, in Las Lagunas, and in Barrio Santana, in Mijas Pueblo. These two new parking areas will add more than 650 spaces, significantly increasing the municipality's capacity in both areas.
According to Councillor for Procurement, Juan José Torres, the project for the parking facility near Indira Gandhi CEIP was awarded to Ingeniería Atecsur SL for 13,148.35 euros. The execution period for the technical project delivery is 60 days, after which the construction tender can be issued.
Similarly, the contract for the Barrio Santana parking facility was awarded to a temporary union of companies (UTE) formed by Ingeniería Atecsur SL and Roma Ingenieros. The amount of this award is 72,756.53 euros, with a deadline of 120 days for the submission of the work.
In addition to these two projects, there are four other initiatives in the proposal stage for award: Las Cañadas (with an estimated 280 spaces), Don Elías (433 spaces), La Vega (480 spaces), and the La Cala boulevard (580 spaces). These four projects will add nearly 1,800 additional parking spaces.
Torres highlighted that the sum of these nearly 1,800 spaces to the more than 650 from the CEIP Indira Gandhi and Barrio Santana projects will exceed 2,450 parking spaces in the municipality.
Furthermore, the Mijas City Council will tender the works for the Mijas Pueblo parking facility before the end of the year, once its project is approved. This facility will add more than 600 spaces, considerably expanding the parking capacity.
