Mijas recorded a hotel occupancy rate of 92.26% in July, solidifying its position as the second-highest destination in the province and exceeding forecasts.

The Tourism Department of the Mijas City Council has positively assessed the hotel occupancy data for July, published by the Association of Hoteliers of the Costa del Sol (AEHCOS). These figures place Mijas as the second municipality in the province with the highest occupancy, reaching 92.26%.
These figures highlight Mijas's appeal as a primary tourist destination during the high season. The average provincial occupancy rate stood at 89.50%, a figure that Mijas has surpassed, along with the hotel employers' association forecasts.
The Councilor for Tourism, Francisco Jerez, emphasized that "this data once again demonstrates that Mijas is one of the most attractive tourist destinations on the Costa del Sol. Achieving an occupancy rate above 92% and ranking among the municipalities with the best records in the province is the result of the work we are doing to offer a quality, competitive destination, prepared to welcome our visitors".
Jerez explained that these results are also a consequence of the strategy developed by the Tourism Department to reinforce the municipality's positioning in key source markets and to continue advancing in the destination's de-seasonality.
"Our goal is for Mijas to remain a tourist reference point throughout the year. To achieve this, we work on promoting the destination, diversifying our offerings, and implementing initiatives that attract quality tourism generating wealth and employment for the municipality," stated Jerez.
The AEHCOS data also reflects that the international market continues to be the main driver of tourism activity in the province, a trend that also benefits Mijas thanks to an offering that combines beaches, nature, heritage, gastronomy, and an activity program capable of attracting visitors with diverse profiles.
The Tourism Department faces the rest of the summer season with optimism and will continue working alongside the sector to further strengthen Mijas's position as a leading destination on the Costa del Sol.
