After almost thirty years as an epicenter for the 'jet set' on the Costa del Sol, the Olivia Valere nightclub, which hosted personalities such as Mick Jagger, Eva Longoria, and Prince, is ceasing operations. The venue, a symbol of Marbella's summer, will be renamed Bonbonniere and managed by new owners.
The decision to close comes after the passing of businesswoman Olivia Valere in June 2022. Her youngest son, Xavier Valere, took over the business, attempting to adapt it to new nightlife trends and the circuit of major DJs. However, according to sources close to the family, high costs and changes in client profiles and leisure habits made it difficult to maintain success.
Olivia Valere's heirs, also involved in a legal dispute over the inheritance, have opted to lease the space. Nevertheless, they will retain the LOV 'dinner show', a concept combining musical and gastronomic experiences, located in the Palacio de Babilonia.
The management of the former Olivia Valere nightclub will be in the hands of British billionaire and boxer Joe Fournier and his Spanish partners, the Mexican Mandala Group, for the next ten years. Bonbonniere, known for its premium nightlife offerings in destinations like Tulum (Mexico) and Mykonos (Greece), is entering Spain with this opening in Marbella and another in Madrid.
Olivia Valere, widely regarded as "the queen of Marbella's nightlife," passed away in Paris at the age of 75 from stomach cancer. After a life dedicated to nightlife, first in Paris and then in Marbella, where she settled in the 1980s, her legacy will endure in the city's memory.
