The summer security plan in Marbella is now underway, featuring a total of 55 lifeguards stationed across 19 rescue modules along the 27 kilometers of coastline. This operation, active until September 30th, aims to enhance surveillance and ensure the safety of bathers and residents.
The deployment is complemented by reinforcements from the Local Police Beach Unit, Civil Protection volunteers, and personnel from the Fire Extinction Service. Additionally, advanced technological resources such as drones, body cameras, and the municipal video surveillance network will be utilized for more effective coordination.
Central coordination is managed from the Local Police control and command room, which integrates images from municipal cameras, police drones, officers' body cameras, and information from lifeguarding services, Civil Protection, Firefighters, and the Beaches department.
The lifesaving and lifeguarding service operates continuously from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, covering the entire coast from Guadalmina, in San Pedro Alcántara, to Cabopino, bordering Mijas. Three ambulances will be stationed in San Pedro Alcántara, La Bajadilla, and Cabopino, along with three jet skis for preventive and rescue operations.
The operation includes a boat, four jet skis, and a permanent base at La Bajadilla beach. Furthermore, the Fire Service support for maritime interventions has been increased by two daily personnel.
As a pilot initiative this summer, a rescue drone will be deployed at Cabopino beach, operational on weekends. This drone will conduct preventive flights to assess sea conditions and will be ready for immediate action in emergencies, deploying a flotation device.
The head of Civil Protection, Francisco Javier Flores, stated that the municipal service will bolster the operation with an average of ten volunteers daily, serving during weekday afternoons and on morning and afternoon shifts on weekends.
The Local Police Beach Unit, comprising two officers, ten agents, and trainee officers, will be operational daily from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM throughout the municipality.
