The incident occurred in the Vista Golf urbanisation, within Estepona's Resinera-Voladilla district, on Monday, August 17, shortly after 8 PM. The National Police arrested a 52-year-old man, the victim's housemate, in connection with the attack.
A patrol unit arrived at the property minutes after a call to Andalucía's 112 emergency line reported a fight in which the victim had been stabbed. Officers handcuffed the alleged attacker while a colleague applied pressure to the wound near the victim's heart.
Paramedics arrived and, with police assistance, performed CPR for 90 minutes as the victim went into cardiac arrest multiple times. A second ambulance with specialised equipment was called before he was finally stabilised and rushed to Malaga's Regional Hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
Investigators found the weapon, a kitchen knife approximately 12cm long, in the bathroom sink. Forensic officers examined the property. The National Police confirmed the investigation is ongoing and no further details will be released at this time. The housemate remains in custody as investigators work to establish the motive for the attack.
