The local security force's canine unit was instrumental in detecting narcotic substances, also uncovering specific "points" where drugs were stored. The Councilor for Security, Emergencies, and Civil Protection, José Eduardo Díaz, described the festival's outcome as "positive".
The security operation for the San Bernabé Fair involved approximately "500 officers" from various bodies, including Local Police, National Police, Civil Guard, and Civil Protection. A "specific security plan and the Emergency Plan" were activated and remained operational until early Monday morning.
Technology played a significant role with "two advanced coordination posts" and constant surveillance via "30 cameras" distributed across both fairgrounds, managed by the 092 control room. A drone unit also provided timely intervention in areas with large crowds.
The canine unit, comprising "four dogs" specialized in narcotics, conducted a "deterrent and preventive" operation. Officers issued a total of "59 citations" related to drug possession, with investigations subsequently forwarded to the court. A "considerable amount" of substances were seized.
In addition to citations, "points where drugs were stored" were discovered, thanks to the "intelligence work" of the canine unit and plainclothes officers. The councilor noted that while this practice doesn't result in a direct citation, it provides valuable insight into "new methods of operation".
During the festivities, daily "preventive traffic controls" were carried out, leading to three positive alcohol breathalyzer tests. The councilor expressed satisfaction with the "degree of responsibility" shown by citizens in using public transport.
Regarding healthcare, the field hospital handled multiple interventions, five of which were "serious," including hospital transfers. The presence of "ambulances" and medical staff was reinforced.
In terms of Citizen Security, a stolen vehicle was recovered, one person was arrested for attempted theft, and "five minor public disturbances" were dispersed without arrests. Two individuals were detained for theft in the Old Town, attributed to "invaluable citizen collaboration".
Two lost minors were quickly identified using the video surveillance system. Firefighters responded to a "fire in an electrical panel," highlighting the "preventive work" of the security forces.
