Citizens of Fuengirola have the opportunity to directly influence municipal investment planning. The period for submitting proposals will run from June 8 to July 22. Suggestions can be registered through the City Council's Open Government platform.
The Councilor for Finance, Rosa Ana Bravo, highlighted that this initiative aims to foster citizen involvement and build a closer, more participatory city model. "Residents have the opportunity to directly decide which actions they consider priorities for improving their environment and quality of life," she stated.
The process is divided into four phases: proposal collection (June 8 - July 22), evaluation and selection of finalists (July 23 - August 7), voting on initiatives (August 8 - 31), and publication of selected projects on September 1. The proposal submission period has been extended to allow citizens more time.
Bravo also mentioned that viable proposals fitting the 2026 budget, such as sidewalk repairs or small infrastructure interventions, could be executed before 2027. She reminded that the City Council maintains open communication channels throughout the year, including departmental emails, neighborhood councilors, and resident meetings.
