The initiative, which will run until next September 15th, offers adapted leisure and free time activities, promoting an accessible and inclusive environment. Mayor Juan Antonio Lara highlighted the program's importance during its presentation.
The project, promoted by the Red Cross in collaboration with the City Council, is funded by the Social Welfare Area, led by councilwoman Áurea Peralta. The council has allocated 14,000 euros annually to this program, totaling 28,000 euros in subsidies.
The program is aimed at people with functional diversity and includes recreational, social, and active activities adapted to the participants' needs, fostering participation, coexistence, and social interaction on the municipality's beaches.
Mayor Juan Antonio Lara emphasized that "inclusion is a priority for this government team" and that projects like 'Disfruta la playa' demonstrate that accessibility goes beyond eliminating physical barriers, aiming to create real opportunities for full social participation.
Benalmádena currently has four adapted beach areas: Fuente de la Salud, Malapesquera, Los Maites, and Carvajal. At each of these locations, lifeguard personnel collaborate with users of these spaces.
The mayor also highlighted the work of the Red Cross and its volunteers, who, along with the City Council, are working to make Benalmádena a municipality "increasingly accessible, inclusive, and committed to equal opportunities".
