The electoral calendar for Córdoba's brotherhoods intensifies this summer with the call for elections in the Brotherhood of La Estrella. Members of the confraternity are summoned to the polls on Sunday, June 28, to select the person who will lead the Holy Monday corporation for the next term.
The current Elder Brother, whose first term is concluding, is eligible to run for re-election. Since Wednesday, April 29, the electoral board has opened the period for aspiring candidates to collect the official form required to gather endorsement signatures. The deadline for submitting candidacies will extend until May 16.
Since his election in July 2022, the current Elder Brother has promoted various heritage initiatives, notably the progress in the candelabra and goldsmith work for the canopy float of Nuestra Señora de la Estrella. In February 2026, the brothers approved in chapter the embroidery design conceived by Rafael de Rueda for the canopy.
Furthermore, the enrichment of the Dulce Nombre de Jesús float has been promoted in Ortiz Jurado's workshop, a procession that was moved to January. The brotherhood has also launched its own social work, 'La Estrella te acompaña' (The Star accompanies you), dedicated to supporting lonely individuals.
