The Andalusian Council of Universities (CAU) has approved the Junta de Andalucía's proposal for the distribution of funds among the ten public universities in Andalusia, totaling 1,825.7 million euros. The University of Córdoba (UCO) is set to receive 150.51 million euros for the 2026 fiscal year.
The CAU's programming commission, chaired by the regional minister of University, Research and Innovation, was held in Córdoba and included representatives from rectors, students, Social Councils, and the Andalusian Parliament. During the meeting, the order detailing this distribution was favorably reported, and the establishment of a joint technical commission was also announced.
“"This joint technical commission will be responsible for studying the methodology used by academic institutions to calculate personnel costs in order to establish a balanced and sustainable financial framework."
The funding proposal includes the 1,788.2 million euros initially budgeted by the Junta for 2026, plus an additional 37.5 million euros. These extra funds are linked to the budgetary and financial reinforcement of the system and a previous agreement between the Junta and the rectors regarding staff remuneration.
Of the 150.51 million euros allocated to the UCO, 130.14 million will go towards basic funding, covering personnel, operational, and maintenance expenses. Another 17.92 million corresponds to funding through program contracts, aimed at improving service quality and resource efficiency.
Additionally, 2.11 million euros are allocated to address economic agreements on personnel matters established in April 2025, which involve the full payment in 2026 of salary supplements for teaching and research staff (PDI) and technical, management, and administrative staff (PTGAS). The UCO will also receive 327,386 euros in consolidated funds for the reinforcement of the public university system, totaling an additional 2.44 million euros.
