The national squad delivered a great performance in Córdoba, overcoming a Ukrainian team that held its ground for the first 45 minutes. The team, under the guidance of the coach, showed significant improvement in the second half, where they scored four of their five goals.
Despite high temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, over 12,000 spectators gathered at El Arcángel to support the national team. The match started with an early goal from one of the forwards just 90 seconds in, following a great play down the left flank that culminated in a precise header.
During the first half, the Spanish team created several opportunities to extend their lead, but a lack of accuracy and interventions from the opposing goalkeeper kept the score tight. The Ukrainian team, for its part, had a clear chance that hit the post, almost leveling the score.
“"The heat took its toll on the team's play, which dominated the match from the start, and on a Ukrainian team that was unable to create danger in the Spanish goalkeeper's area."
After the break, with strategic changes to the lineup, the Spanish team emerged with renewed energy. Quickly, the first goal's play was replicated, with another forward scoring with a header. From that moment on, the dominance was complete, with additional goals sealing the rout and allowing a new player to make her debut, to the delight of the Córdoba fans.
