The Córdoba City Council has announced that Sadeco has finalized the incorporation of 87 temporary workers to reinforce essential public services. This reinforcement comes after months of strong criticism from residents and the opposition regarding the city's cleanliness.
Following contract signings and training, all workers have been assigned their roles within the extraordinary operation designed by the Operations Department. The municipal government states this reinforcement will enhance the company's capacity in street cleaning, waste collection, and specific maintenance tasks for public spaces in Córdoba and its surrounding areas.
Of the new hires, 42 will join the regular street cleaning and waste collection shifts, strengthening daily service teams and improving coverage. The remaining 45 operators will focus on specific urban improvement tasks, organized into specialized teams working until mid-November.
A notable addition is the creation of four crews dedicated to cleaning containers and weeding in neighborhoods, starting August 15th. Initial efforts will target areas like Campo de la Verdad, Miraflores, Fray Albino, El Arenal, Campo de la Merced, and Polígono Guadalquivir, aiming to improve the appearance of neighborhoods and manage spontaneous vegetation.
Additionally, a team will focus on eliminating stains and 'black spots' on public streets using three 'pickup' vehicles for localized incidents. Three teams are also established for the interior and exterior cleaning of public bins, increasing the frequency of these actions. The collection of abandoned bulky waste will also be enhanced with an extra vehicle.
Nighttime street washing services, previously weekly, will now be daily. Manual street washing teams will double from two to four, increasing both the number and frequency of operations. A dedicated crew will also handle container cleaning and weeding in industrial parks.
Through this reorganization, Sadeco aims to restore adequate operational capacity until mid-November, with the possibility of extending the reinforcement based on service needs and operational evolution.
