The Puente Genil City Council has commenced the removal of trees damaged by winter storms in Príncipe de Asturias Park, known as Garrotalillo Park, to ensure safety ahead of the San Marcos Pilgrimage.

The operations, carried out by staff from the Parks and Gardens department of the municipal company Egemasa, include extraordinary personnel reinforcement. These tasks will be performed in various areas of the park over the coming days, focusing on specimens that pose a potential risk.
This intervention is crucial for the safety of park users and vehicles on the A-318 road, a regional route with over 7,400 daily vehicles that runs alongside the park. The main objective is to have the park in optimal condition for the celebration of the San Marcos Pilgrimage, scheduled for April 25.

"These actions respond to the need to act diligently after the damage caused by the storm, prioritizing the safety and proper use of a space highly frequented by citizens."

Reina also emphasized that these efforts are part of the regular maintenance and conservation tasks for municipal green areas, especially at points where pedestrian traffic and vehicle circulation converge. The coordination between municipal services and Egemasa has allowed for an organized and technical approach to managing the affected trees.
The storms in February caused significant damage to trees in several green areas of the municipality. According to data from the City Council, approximately 250 trees were affected in various locations, with 171 falling completely and another 77 requiring intervention due to structural risk.
