Socialist councilwoman Isabel Bernal has criticized the municipal executive, led by the PP, for what she describes as a "benefit" to concert and event promoters. According to Bernal, last Tuesday, April 7, the Córdoba City Council approved in an extraordinary plenary session a budget of 1.2 million euros as a subsidy for private companies that organize for-profit musical shows in the city.

The PSOE had previously filed a complaint with the Municipal Institute of Scenic Arts (IMAE) Council when this allocation was initially proposed. In that council, the PP approved a modification to the Subsidies Plan which, according to the socialists, diverts funds intended for the management of Córdoba's municipal theaters towards these private companies. The councilwoman laments that money that could have been used to improve the programming and infrastructure of venues such as the Gran Teatro, Teatro Góngora, and Teatro de la Axerquía, is instead being used to subsidize festivals like those at the Plaza de Toros and Córdoba Live.

Bernal noted that the IMAE Council dismissed the PSOE's claims regarding what they call the "infamous management of public money by the PP." The final approval of these funds for private concert companies was carried out in the municipal plenary session thanks to the PP's absolute majority, under the Bellido Government. The councilwoman considers it "inconsistent" that, compared to the 1,200,000 euros allocated to private companies, the Noche Blanca del Flamenco, a significant cultural event organized by the City Council itself that provides identity to the city, does not receive even 450,000 euros.
