After seven years as a councilor in the Pleno de Capitulares, Paula Badanelli, spokesperson for Vox in the Cordoba City Council, will leave her position. The resignation will become effective at the plenary session next Thursday, marking the end of her municipal term to fully dedicate herself to her role in the Andalusian Parliament, to which she was elected following the recent regional elections.
Miguel Castellano, who was fifth on Vox's list for the 2023 municipal elections and previously belonged to Ciudadanos, will be Badanelli's replacement in the Cordoba city council. Badanelli herself explained that her departure was a natural consequence of her election as a regional parliamentarian, even though legislation allowed for holding both positions.
Badanelli's tenure in the City Council spans seven years, having first been elected in 2019. Throughout her term, she was known for her firm and assertive stance in defending her party's positions, often confronting the left. Her return to the municipal list in 2023, this time as number two, highlighted her importance within the party in the province, where she serves as president.
Badanelli's departure is the second resignation from the Vox municipal group during this term, following that of Yolanda Almagro. The group's political dynamics, which secured three council seats in 2023, have seen periods of both collaboration and deadlock with the PP's municipal government, as was the case with the approval of the 2022 budgets.
