Paco Jémez, known for his brave approach to football, reflected on his recent experience as assistant coach at West Ham alongside Nuno Espírito Santo. This decision, though challenging due to the new role, allowed him to learn about different working methods and competition styles in the English league.
During his spell in England, Jémez contributed to a change in momentum that moved the team out of the relegation zone, although they ultimately failed to maintain their top-flight status. The coach described the experience as "tremendously positive," praising the infrastructure and the passion for football in the country, particularly the massive stadium attendances.
Looking ahead, Jémez expressed his desire to continue coaching and is seeking a motivating project, either in Spain or abroad, that will allow him to apply all he has learned. "Waiting for the club that makes me feel happy to arrive," he stated.
Regarding the present of Córdoba CF, Jémez is optimistic. He values the "tranquility" with which the project is being built, considering it essential to establish themselves in the Second Division before aiming higher. "Hopefully, in a short time, Córdoba will have options to fight for the playoffs and promotion," he noted.
The coach praised Iván Ania's work, highlighting his playing style and the continuity that has helped stabilize the team. "Córdoba is now a brave team that plays well with the ball, and that's the football the city enjoys," he remarked, emphasizing the importance of connecting with the fanbase's identity.
On the subject of talent acquisition from lower leagues, such as Primera RFEF, Jémez sees it as a viable model, similar to what other clubs with financial difficulties have done. "The important thing for a sporting director is to bring in good players," he concluded.
The Canarian coach reiterated his affection for the club and the city, where he "grew up personally and professionally." "For me, it's my city, it's my club, and I'm always aware of what it's doing," he confessed, wishing Córdoba continued consolidation and a return closer to the First Division.
