The Brotherhood of the Risen Christ has unveiled the full program of celebrations for the 75th anniversary of the blessing of María Santísima Reina de Nuestra Alegría, a work by the Cordoban sculptor Juan Martínez Cerrillo from 1951. The central event will be an extraordinary procession of the Marian patroness through the streets of Córdoba on October 10th.
The festivities began in December with the presentation of the anniversary poster and logo. Following the start of the devotions to the Risen Lord, the Cordoban corporation has confirmed an extensive calendar of activities in honor of its image, culminating on December 8th with a solemn veneration and the presentation of the poster for the centenary of the reorganization of the brotherhood of Santa Marina.
“"A path of faith, history, and devotion that will lead us to celebrate, with gratitude, all that She has sown in our hearts. Córdoba prepares to live a year of joy."
After the presentation of the comic Alegría during the past Lent, the events continue this Friday with the presentation of the minute book from the first congress of Resurrection brotherhoods, led by Juan Aranda Doncel. In September, the Miguel Castillejo Foundation will host a conference on the figure of Juan Martínez Cerrillo, delivered by Francisco Mellado.
The extraordinary procession on October 10th, unlike the usual Easter Sunday one, will take place at night, as confirmed by Paco Mora, elder brother of the corporation. The route will include streets in the neighborhood and extend to the Plaza de las Tendillas, returning to the temple via San Miguel, San Zoilo, and Torres Cabrera, thus reviving an ancient itinerary.
Other notable events include a lecture on Marian devotion in Andalusia on October 30th at the Miguel Castillejo Foundation, given by Antonio Romero Padilla. In November, a conference will be offered on the evolution of Marian embroidery, and on November 28, 2026, an extraordinary rosary with Our Lady of Joy will be held, starting at 5:30 PM.
The program will conclude on December 4th in Santa Marina with an exaltation in honor of Our Lady of Joy, led by Irene Gallardo Flores. Subsequently, from December 5th to 7th, 2026, an extraordinary triduum will take place, and on December 8th, the solemn veneration and the presentation of the poster for the centenary of the Easter Sunday corporation will be held.
