The city of Córdoba welcomes the launch of a new cultural event, the Córdoba Efímera Festival, aiming to intertwine architecture, contemporary creation, and the city's rich historical heritage. The festival will run from August 21 to September 30, with the ambition of presenting the city as a grand museum and its spaces as an immersive experience.
Promoted by the Artdecor Foundation, in collaboration with MUDD Architects, the festival includes a call for scholarships and creation grants that opened on July 1 and will remain open until the 15th. The central focus of this initiative will be an international workshop held from August 21 to 31, bringing together local, national, and international participants to address topics such as cinema, architecture, art, and citizenship.
The Ephemeral Creation Scholarship and Grant Program Córdoba 2026 aims to facilitate international training, promote contemporary creation, and encourage the participation of students, artists, and professionals in a project connecting historical heritage, citizenship, and current culture. Selected proposals will become part of the official programming of Efímera 2026, to be exhibited in various heritage sites across the city between August 21 and 31, 2026.
There are two support modalities. The first is aimed at local students, with three full scholarships awarded by the Artdecor Foundation for residents of Córdoba and its province, covering the participation cost for the international workshop Efímera Lab, valued at approximately 1,000 euros. Applicants must be linked to disciplines such as architecture, cinema, fine arts, design, photography, performing arts, or cultural management.
The second modality focuses on the production of artistic interventions, offering two grants for emerging artists, professionals, and creative collectives. These grants are intended for the development of installations and artistic interventions that will be integrated into the official program. Beneficiaries can include visual artists, architects, filmmakers, designers, photographers, performing arts professionals, and multidisciplinary collectives. The grants will cover permits, production, materials, technical support, logistics, and curatorial accompaniment, tailored to the specific needs of each selected project.
Additionally, the festival will feature the participation of a "guest artist of recognized national or international prestige", whose selection will be based on artistic excellence and professional trajectory. To bolster local talent, artists and professionals residing in Córdoba who apply for Efímera Lab and do not receive a scholarship may enroll with a 50% reduction on the registration fee. All detailed information is available on the Artdecor Foundation's website.
The international workshop proposes transforming spaces within Córdoba's historic and cinematic center into ephemeral stages for contemporary creation. Over ten days, participants will work in multidisciplinary teams, combining architecture, art, cinema, and citizenship to intervene in city locations, creating new urban narratives through light structures, light, and sound.
Teams of three to five people will design ephemeral installations using light structures, lighting elements, and experimental resources. The process will culminate in the production of a high-quality short film documenting the intervention experience, intended for circulation in film festivals and cultural platforms. The workshop includes conferences, tutorials, materials, technical advice, and a public presentation of the resulting audiovisual pieces.
