During the institutional ceremony held at the Palacio de San Telmo, Juanma Moreno, acting President of the Regional Government of Andalusia, humorously commented on his 'envy' regarding the electoral process that re-elected the rector of the University of Córdoba, Manuel Torralbo Rodríguez. Moreno suggested, with laughter, the possibility of implementing a similar single-candidate system in the Andalusian Parliament.
Moreno highlighted the rector's 'strength' and the 'significant participation' in the university elections, despite there being only one candidate. He emphasized that this demonstrates the 'liveliness, intensity, and vitality' of the University of Córdoba.
“"It must be interesting to go into elections with only one candidate. I looked at you with envy when I was watching other elections and I said, couldn't we do something like that in the Andalusian Parliament?"
The event was also marked by the remembrance of counselor José Carlos Gómez Villamandos, who was the rector of the Cordoban university and recently passed away. The Minister of Education, Carmen Castillo, provisionally assumed university responsibilities, and counselor José Antonio Nieto and the President of the Andalusian Parliament, Jesús Aguirre, were also in attendance.
