The Urban Planning Department of Córdoba has given the green light for the execution of the Miralbaida park, with works set to begin within a maximum of 15 days. The contract with the awarded company, Jicar, was formalized on August 4th, as published three days later.
The construction, which will span 16 months across the Miralbaida and Noreña neighborhoods, is expected to be completed by December 2027. The project, tendered and awarded for 4.59 million euros after a 9.7% reduction from the initial value, was resolved in April.
The park will cover 7.5 hectares in the western part of the city, bisected by the Ronda de Poniente. It is part of the City Council's strategy to create a Green Ring, promoted by the Partido Popular. The design includes a dehesa area with native species, urban gardens, a dog park, children's play areas, exercise equipment for seniors, a bike lane, and walking circuits.
The design also incorporates lighting, equipment, and furniture installation. The park will feature a main path running north to south and will border the Paseo de los verdiales and the future Poniente-Figueroa park to the north; Islas Chafarinas street, the Las Delicias gas station, and the A-431 to the east; the railway lines to the south; and the urban edge of the Miralbaida and Electromecánicas neighborhoods to the west.
Additionally, the new space within Córdoba's Green Ring will have four meeting areas located in Miralbaida Norte and Sur, Santa Isabel, and Electromecánicas. With the contract signing, the local government is advancing its sustainable development strategy, a project that Mayor José María Bellido refers to as one of his 'folders'.
Concurrently, the City Council is working on the development of the Chinales park, which will span approximately 5.3 hectares between the Ronda Norte and the Guadalmellato Canal. This project was tendered at the same time as the Miralbaida park, with a maximum expenditure of 1.6 million euros planned for its execution.
