More than 6,800 students from 106 educational centers in Córdoba are participating in the 2026 edition of the “Nuestros Patios” program, a City Council initiative to introduce this tradition to schoolchildren.

The Delegation of Education and Childhood of the Córdoba City Council has launched a new edition of the “Nuestros Patios, Intangible Heritage of Humanity” program. This well-established initiative aims to enhance the participatory and experiential nature of the Patio Festival among the city's schoolchildren.
The 2026 edition has seen significant growth, with the involvement of 106 educational centers, 562 teachers, and nearly 6,900 students. These figures surpass those of the previous year, which included 73 centers, 454 teachers, and 5,540 students.

"It's not just about children seeing the patios, but about them understanding what they mean, experiencing the coexistence and generosity they represent."

The program began with workshops held in the educational centers themselves, taking place between April 15 and 30. These activities have been adapted to different educational stages, offering a sensory approach for younger children and delving into customs and daily life for Primary students. The goal is for students to understand that the patios are part of their Cordoban identity and a heritage that must be cared for and preserved.
The core of the initiative runs from May 4 to 15, with the activity “Let's go explore our city”. During this period, thousands of schoolchildren visit over 50 patios of various types (old, modern, and conventual) distributed across 11 neighborhoods of the city. The coordination of these visits is a significant effort that allows students to experience the patios from within, fostering a deeper understanding of their meaning.
In addition to the visits, the program includes complementary proposals such as the escape city “Entre Patios, anda el juego”, which will be held on May 11 in the Alcázar Viejo. The “Música en los Patios” initiative also brings small concerts to educational centers, and family workshops are scheduled for Saturdays in May at the Road Education Center, where parents participate in building models of patio corners. The initiative will conclude at the end of May with an awards gala for the school patio competition.
