With the season nearing its end and Córdoba CF having secured ninth place in the standings, fan interest is focused on the future of the squad and, particularly, on coach Iván Ania. Ahead of the match against SD Huesca, Ania was questioned about rumors suggesting his departure.
The coach reiterated his stance from the previous week, stating: "I'll tell you the same thing as last week. You know my situation, and I have nothing more to say." He added humorously that he hopes the questions about his future will cease once the league concludes on Sunday. "The situation is clear," he concluded.
Ania emphasized the importance of tuning out the speculation to maintain focus on the match. "We have to try to detach ourselves and be oblivious to what is being said because otherwise, it's natural for it to be a distraction," he explained. Although neither team is competing for promotion, the coach stressed the importance of the game to secure ninth place and finish the league "in the best possible way."
The team's strong performance this season has attracted the attention of other clubs for several of its players, even from higher divisions. Ania views this as "positive" because it "shows that things are being done well." However, he clarified that each player's contractual situation is a "club matter, not the coach's."
Regarding the lineup for the final match, Ania assured that it would not be influenced by the players' futures. "I will field the most suitable team to try and beat Huesca, considering our absences," he stated, adding that the feeling from this game is what will carry over into the holidays and that they deserve to "finish well, compete in the match, and end in ninth place."
The coach also debunked specific rumors, such as the potential departure of Carlos Marín, confirming that he "has a contract for next season." "Not everything that comes out is true," he concluded.
Ania reflected on the season, noting that they have improved numerically compared to the previous one and that the goal is to reach 63 points and ninth place. He recalled that the "very negative dynamic" of two poor months hampered the team's aspirations, which could have aimed higher if they had secured "four or five more points" during that streak.
Finally, he positively assessed the stability achieved by Córdoba CF in the league over the last two seasons, remembering that five years ago the club was in the Segunda Federación. "We have to value what the team is achieving, the stability in the category, that we are improving each year," he concluded.
