Córdoba CF is in the final days of the transfer market, keeping an eye on potential signings. However, in the forward position, barring any surprises, the situation appears to be practically settled. Coach Iván Ania has several alternatives for the offensive reference, an 'overbooking' situation that particularly affects Ibai Sanz, who has yet to participate in the season's first two games.
Based on the initial matches, Iván Ania has four forwards at his disposal. Víctor Sánchez has emerged as the first choice, but a recent injury against Girona makes his participation against Granada unlikely. In this scenario, Enol Rodríguez is the second player with the most minutes. The Asturian started as a left winger in the debut against Burgos and played the last fifteen minutes as a central forward against Girona, focusing on defensive duties.
The former Huesca player has not yet scored, but showed flashes of being a powerful player in the box during preseason, a profile similar to Adrián Fuentes, who has room for improvement and is a club bet. Diego Percan, although initially intended as a right winger, has accumulated over 50 minutes as a central forward. He stood out for his speed and ability to create chances, although efficiency remains his pending task.
Outside this trio is Ibai Sanz. The Athletic Club youth player played as a forward twice during preseason: half an hour against Orlando Pirates and 60 minutes against Cádiz, without significant offensive impact in the latter. He later played as a left winger against Elche and Real Jaén, a position unnatural for an area striker like him, whose goal-scoring instinct led him to score ten goals for Lezama's youth team last season.
His discreet preseason contributions and lack of league opportunities create an undesirable situation for Sanz, who joined Córdoba after rejecting Sporting in search of playing time. His role as the fourth forward is also not ideal for Athletic Club, which does not want to see one of its prospects stagnate. The upcoming matches, a friendly against AD San José and the league game against Granada, are key dates for Ibai Sanz to try and reclaim his place, although the current context is not favorable, and a premature departure could be an option if he doesn't find his niche.
