Hotel Occupancy in Córdoba Nears 86% During May Holiday Weekend

The province of Córdoba ranked as the second most visited in Andalusia, exceeding the tourism sector's expectations.

Hotel establishments in the province of Córdoba recorded a significant occupancy rate of 85.5% during the May 1st holiday weekend in 2026, establishing it as the second busiest destination in Andalusia.

This percentage places Córdoba only behind Málaga in the Andalusian tourism influx ranking for this festive period. Across the region, the average occupancy was 82.1%, with a total of 655,746 overnight stays, according to sector survey data from the Ministry of Tourism and Andalucía Exterior.
The 2026 results show a 3.7 percentage point increase over the occupancy recorded during the same holiday weekend last year, which lasted four days. Compared to the three-day holiday weekend in 2023, occupancy remains stable, but there is a 5.3% rise in the number of hotel stays.

Other provinces such as Huelva (80.8%), Seville (80.4%), Cádiz (77.9%), Jaén (73.6%), and Almería (70%) also showed high figures. The busiest day was May 1st, with a peak occupancy of 87.4% in Andalusia, notably Córdoba with 93.8% and Málaga with 91.3%.
Regarding rural houses, occupancy by beds reached 51%, with peaks of 61.1% on May 2nd. The provinces of Málaga (57.1%), Jaén (56.7%), and Córdoba (52.1%) exceeded the average, with Jaén recording 68% on May 1st. Tourist rental homes had an occupancy of 44%, with Seville (74.3%), Córdoba (64.1%), Jaén (52.9%), and Granada (47.6%) above the regional average.
These figures surpass the sector's initial forecasts, which estimated 78.9% for hotels, 47.5% for rural houses, and 42.7% for tourist rental homes, demonstrating stronger tourism dynamism than anticipated.
