Analysis of visitor data at the city's main monument shows that 73% of visitors from other autonomous regions arrive from areas with direct AVE high-speed rail connections. This trend highlights the importance of transport infrastructure in attracting tourists, with Madrid, Catalonia, the Valencian Community, and Castilla-La Mancha being the primary sources of domestic travelers.
Although the monument exceeded one million visitors in the first half of the year, there was a 7% decrease compared to the previous year. According to the Cabildo Catedral, this decline was influenced by the temporary suspension of high-speed rail services between Córdoba and Madrid, as well as reduced frequency of routes to Málaga.
Digitalization in ticket management has provided a detailed profile of visitors. Currently, 64% of tickets are purchased online, facilitating the tracking of tourist origins. While 46.48% of visitors are international, domestic tourism shows a clear reliance on rail routes, totaling over 105,000 people from regions with high-speed connections.
At the same time, the Cabildo Catedral has highlighted growth in other local tourist routes. The Fernandine Churches have seen a 12.93% increase in visits, reaching a total of 134,152 people. Additionally, the introduction of night visits to various temples has begun to attract a growing audience during weekends.
