A fire declared on the Airport Road (N-437) in Córdoba city has raised alarm among residents in the western expansion areas and nearby urbanizations. The blaze, which started in a grass and reed area, was initially extinguished at midday but reignited in the early afternoon, requiring the renewed mobilization of personnel from the Municipal Fire and Rescue Service (SEIS).
The initial alert was received at 1:30 PM in the Casillas area, near a BP gas station. Approximately 2,500 square meters had burned. Despite the initial extinction, flames reappeared at 2:30 PM, necessitating the full deployment of the central fire station, supported by colleagues from Granadal. In total, 6 vehicles and 14 personnel were mobilized, along with two units from Infoca.
The fire's proximity to homes led to the temporary evacuation of seven houses, affecting about a dozen people. Line O-1 of Aucorsa buses was also diverted. The fire has impacted approximately four hectares of land.
The Andalucía Emergency Agency 112 received over twenty calls reporting the incident. Traffic on the Airport Road was affected by brief closures and provisional diversions. Witnesses described an intense, dark column of smoke, accompanied by a strong burning smell and the sound of numerous sirens.
