Rafael Escobar, a coach from Córdoba who has achieved two consecutive promotions with Egabrense, shared his perspective on the current situation of Córdoba CF. In an interview, Escobar described the decision to keep Iván Ania as coach as "the best decision Córdoba has made this season."
The manager of the Egabrense team, which has risen from Primera Andaluza to Tercera Federación in 15 months, expressed his happiness for the promotion and the fulfilled duty. "I feel delighted and happy to see all the people of Cabra, all my fans, with smiles on their faces," he stated.
Escobar attributes Egabrense's success to the humility, enthusiasm, and hard work of the players, maintaining a playing philosophy based on "treating the ball well and playing good football." For the upcoming season, the main objective is to remain in the division, aiming to renew "practically 90%" of the squad.
Regarding Córdoba CF's season, the coach describes it as "quite good," emphasizing that the team "played very good football" and possesses a clear DNA and playing philosophy. He noted that the ups and downs lasted too long and that the team lacked "that step of conviction from the outset and greater consistency."
“"Keeping him is the best decision Córdoba has made this season. If every time there's a bad streak we get rid of coaches, then we don't believe in the project we've trusted."
Escobar defended Córdoba's strategy of investing in talent from Primera and Segunda RFEF, acknowledging that "we all want a catchy name," but emphasizing that the "desire, enthusiasm, and intensity" of young players are a guarantee. He also positively assessed Antonio Fernández Monterrubio's management, highlighting the team's identity and the need for "that little leap" to compete for promotion.
Finally, Rafael Escobar confessed that managing Córdoba at El Arcángel is "undoubtedly" a dream he would like to fulfill one day, admiring the work of the current coaching staff.
