The delegate for Infrastructure, Sustainability, and Agriculture, Andrés Lorite, confirmed the provincial institution's registration, which will allow it to use the 'Calculate Seal' awarded by the Regional Government of Andalusia. This progress builds upon the prior registration of the Council's carbon footprint with the Ministry of Ecological Transition in 2021, 2022, and 2023, earning the corresponding seal each year.
Thanks to the implementation of various emission reduction actions, the Council has applied for the 'Calculate and Reduce Seal' for the 2024 fiscal year. This is due to all its facilities sourcing their electricity consumption entirely from renewable energy.
Looking ahead to 2025, the goal is to obtain the 'Calculate, Reduce, and Offset Seal'. To this end, a project involving carbon absorption through a forest planted at the Porrillas Estate, developed in partnership with the company Silbon, is currently being registered. Once registered, this project will offset a portion of the institution's carbon footprint.

Lorite emphasized that the Council voluntarily measures its environmental footprint, even though Royal Decree 214/2025 only mandates it for the General State Administration and considers it voluntary for autonomous community governing bodies and local administrations.
He recalled that the carbon footprint serves as a basic reference point for initiating actions to reduce energy consumption and for using resources and materials with better environmental performance. Ultimately, it identifies the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions released into the atmosphere, enabling the establishment of effective reduction measures.
