The 2025-26 season has concluded for Córdoba CF, leaving a mixed balance. The team, managed by Iván Ania, finished ninth in the Segunda División with 61 points, surpassing the 55 from the previous campaign. Despite the progress, the project did not achieve the promotion play-off objective, a milestone that seemed achievable at the start of the season.
The team's true engine this season has been its away performance. The 'blanquiverdes' secured 29 points away from their stadium, El Arcángel, establishing themselves as the sixth-best away team in LaLiga Hypermotion. This record contrasts with the 23 points obtained last season, highlighting a significant improvement in their away game.
Conversely, home strength did not evolve. Córdoba CF repeated its 32-point tally at home, the same as in the 2024-25 season, although with a more negative balance of seven defeats compared to five previously. The team ranked as the eleventh best home team in the league, far behind the records of the top teams.
The lack of reliability at El Arcángel weighed heavily on the final outcome. Defeats against direct rivals such as Albacete, Las Palmas, and Deportivo, among others, hampered the team's promotion aspirations.
“"It was the year to aspire to make the play-offs. If we hadn't had that 1 out of 24, if we had added four or five points in that run, there would have been options to aim for something."
Ultimately, the ninth-place finish left the club eleven points adrift of the promotion zone. The consistency shown away from home is the major pending task for the next season, with the aim of turning consistency into greater aspirations.
