Córdoba CF has announced a renovation plan for its stadium, El Arcángel, aiming to professionalize its facilities. Among the most notable changes is a slight increase in capacity, which will add approximately 300 additional seats. The majority of these new seats will be located in the Fondo Sur area, with around 250 units, while the rest will be distributed in a new Preferencia zone.
This expansion, though modest, is significant for a stadium nearing its maximum capacity, allowing the club a small growth margin within its 20,000 seats. These new seats will be available exclusively for ticket sales.
Regarding the Grada de Animación (Fan Zone), the goal is to enhance the stadium's atmosphere. According to statements by Antonio Monterrubio, the delimiting fence will be extended, emphasizing its specific commitment status rather than just another seat. The aim is to maintain a strong, responsible, and exemplary fan zone.
Linked to the fence relocation and the increase in seating, the price for renewals and new season tickets will see a 20% increase. It's recalled that last season, a condition was applied to the Fan Zone: season ticket holders who miss three matches will not be able to renew in that area next season, underscoring the required commitment.
Furthermore, the club is working on establishing specific smoking areas within the stadium, for both conventional tobacco and e-cigarettes. The intention is to concentrate this activity in designated zones within each stand, balancing the habits of smokers with the comfort of non-smoking spectators.
A larger project involves the exterior enclosure of Fondo Sur and Preferencia, a long-standing demand from fans. The work, awarded to Sepisur XXI for over one million euros (€1,052,196.92), appears to have faced delays. Initially planned for early June, construction has not yet begun, partly due to the temporary infrastructure for the Córdoba Live festival, which could extend the completion deadlines.
