The continuity of Diego Tristán at the helm of Córdoba CF's reserve team for the 2026/2027 season has been officially confirmed by the entity. The club celebrated the renewal through a statement on its social media channels, wishing the Sevillian coach the greatest success in this new chapter.
The decision follows a notable improvement in the team's performance under Tristán's guidance. The coach took over the reserve team at a critical juncture, around April, when the team was in a relegation zone after a defeat against Tomares. The sporting committee then opted for the dismissal of Gaspar Gálvez and the bet on the Sevillian manager.
With only five matches remaining in the league, the move proved to be a success. Tristán managed to secure 13 out of a possible 15 points, allowing the team to comfortably avoid relegation without needing to depend on the final matchday. This performance included a streak of four consecutive victories without conceding a goal, with away wins against Ceuta B and Castilleja, and home victories over Coria and San Roque de Lepe.
“"He hasn't signed a contract yet, but the intention is for him to continue with the reserve team. I believe he has done a magnificent job. Diego managed to avoid relegation, he is very enthusiastic, and the idea is for him to continue."
The team's strong performance, which concluded the league season with an inconsequential 2-2 draw in Pozoblanco, has earned Diego Tristán the confidence of the sporting committee to embark on a new project from scratch as the head of Córdoba B.
