The Assembly for Palestine, the UCO Platform for Palestine, the Córdoba with Palestine platform, the Anti-NATO Assembly, and Better without Weapons have organized a demonstration in Córdoba this Sunday. The protest aims to show solidarity with Palestine and denounce militarism and wars.
The organizing groups argue that international pressure is the only way to stop Israel, which they claim aims for the definitive expulsion of the Palestinian people. "We cannot remain silent while the genocide continues," they stated, describing the difficult situation of two million people in Gaza, lacking basic services and exposed to extreme heat.
The objective of the call is to keep alive the awareness of the "genocide against the Palestinian people," including the killings and repression in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem. They note that since October, Israel has killed 1,084 Palestinians and has expanded its occupation of the Gaza Strip.
Particular demands are made to the Spanish Government to unblock a Bill of Law registered in July 2024, which proposes an automatic arms embargo on states involved in genocides. The bill, stalled for two years, seeks to end military relations with Israel.
Furthermore, the organizations demand that the Government of Spain immediately break diplomatic and commercial relations with Israel, and call for an end to the killings, the return of occupied territories, and the return of refugees. They also request the Spanish government's support for the case brought by South Africa before the International Court of Justice against Israel for war crimes.
