Criticism Over N-432 Section Tender in Córdoba

The opposition denounces that the announcement of a 13-kilometer highway project is a "patch" and a "propaganda operation" without a definitive solution.

The political opposition in Córdoba has expressed dissatisfaction with the recent Government announcement regarding the tender for a project to convert a section of the N-432 into a highway, deeming it insufficient and an electoral strategy.

Opposition representatives have denounced that the central Government is "misleading the people of Córdoba again" with the announcement made on May 12 about the N-432: it has put out to tender the drafting of the project for its conversion into a highway only between Cerro Muriano and Córdoba (13 kilometers). This action has been described as "a patch" and a "new propaganda operation" without a real commitment to converting this road into a high-capacity route.

It has been criticized that, after seven years of socialist governance, "not a single kilometer has been advanced in the transformation of the N-432". Furthermore, it is pointed out that the announcement comes "just days before Andalusian elections", suggesting it aims to create the impression of progress when only the drafting of a 2+2 lane project over a limited 13-kilometer stretch has been announced.
The opposition has recalled that the Government itself confirmed last March that the N-432 "will not be fully converted into a highway", proposing 2+1 lane solutions in different sections and leaving fundamental actions between Espejo and Granada in the air. The current tender, according to the opposition, "confirms the Executive's roadmap: definitively renouncing a complete highway for the N-432".
From the opposition in Córdoba, the central Executive has been urged to show "seriousness, rigor, and commitment to our province", emphasizing the need for "complete, safe, and capable high-capacity infrastructures that guarantee territorial cohesion and the economic and social development of our municipalities".
It has been stressed that the N-432 is "one of the most dangerous roads in Spain, with a very high accident rate", and its current situation "is hindering opportunities and making it difficult to retain population in many municipalities of the province". Therefore, the Government has been called upon to "definitively abandon the policy of announcements and deception and present a clear and real roadmap for the entire N-432" in its sections within the province of Córdoba.
