The left-wing coalition has expressed its concern as Córdoba approaches its Mayo Festivo (May Festival), a period when public drinking intensifies, without any preventive measures or alternative leisure activities for young people having been implemented.
According to Hacemos Córdoba, the Mesa del Botellón was established following a tragic incident in February 2025 in El Arenal, with the aim of addressing the social and coexistence problems caused by this practice. However, since its formation, the body has not reconvened, representing “more than a year of absolute paralysis.”
“"The reality is that not a single effective measure, visible campaign, or alternative leisure proposal for youth has been developed."
The municipal group criticizes the local government for abandoning this coordination space, which includes delegations such as Youth, Education, Public Health, and Festivities and Traditions. This body was intended to promote healthy leisure alternatives, awareness campaigns, and preventive actions in educational centers and social media.
In light of this situation, Hacemos Córdoba demands the “immediate reactivation” of the Mesa del Botellón and the urgent implementation of “real and effective” measures, emphasizing the importance of not ignoring a problem that affects coexistence and the youth of the city.
