According to household projections published by the National Statistics Institute (INE), the province of Córdoba will have 323,008 households in 2041, an increase from the current 310,046. This growth is expected to be concentrated mainly over the next decade.
This rise in housing contrasts with the continuous population decline the province is experiencing, having lost over 30,000 residents since 2012. Consequently, the average household size will decrease from the current 2.46 members to 2.26 by 2041.
The most notable change will be in household typology. Single-person households and those with two members will become the most common, each accounting for slightly less than a third of the total. Three-person households will represent 17.6%, and those with four or more, 17.0%.
Currently, two-member households are the majority (29.7%), followed by single-person households (27.7%), those with four or more members (22.7%), and three-resident households (19.8%). The projection for 2041 indicates a much more equitable distribution among the different typologies.
