The month of May will kick off in Cordoba with the traditional procession of the Virgen de la Cabeza, filling the streets with a festive and pilgrimage-like atmosphere. The image, popularly known as the Morenita, will depart from the parish of San Francisco y San Eulogio for its annual route.
The day will begin early on Sunday, May 3rd, with the brotherhood's rule feast at half past ten in the morning. After the celebration, around half past eleven, the image of the Virgin will begin its journey on its float, accompanied by the María Santísima de la Esperanza Music Band, which will perform marches in its honor.
The itinerary will take the procession through emblematic streets such as Compás de San Francisco, San Fernando, and Cardenal González, before reaching the Holy Cathedral Church at approximately 13:00 hours. The brotherhood maintains the custom of visiting the diocese's main temple, a moment of great fervor where it is received by the brotherhood's banners.
The return to the temple is scheduled for three in the afternoon, after once again traversing the Patio de los Naranjos and other streets like Martínez Rücker and plaza de Abades. Weather forecasts for Sunday indicate cloudy intervals with a 60% chance of light rain, and temperatures ranging between 10 and 25 degrees Celsius.
Prior to the procession, the brotherhood has held a triduum in honor of the Virgin, which took place on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at the parish of San Francisco at 19:30 hours.
