The Córdoba City Council has announced its commitment to regularize outstanding overtime payments to the Local Police by May, for services rendered during 2025, amidst a conflict with unions.

The municipal government's vice-spokesperson and head of Human Resources for the Córdoba City Council has confirmed that the local administration remains committed to settling debts related to overtime worked by Local Police officers. These payments are for extraordinary services provided at events in 2025, such as the Vía Crucis Magno, Christmas, and the Half Marathon.
The situation has led to tensions with several unions, including the Independent Union of Local Police and Firefighters (Siplb), UGT, and CSIF. These organizations have urged officers not to participate in extraordinary services during the upcoming Cruces de Mayo de Córdoba festivities, as a pressure tactic due to delayed payments.

"We maintain the commitment that in May we would catch up on last year's payments."

The local government insists that dialogue with union representatives is ongoing and that an agreement reached in January stipulated that officers would not work events for which they had not yet been paid from the previous year. Despite the protests, the administration states it is unaware of the exact number of officers who have declined to participate in the special Cruces de Mayo deployment.
Unions, for their part, have reiterated their complaints about the extensive nature of the unpaid amounts, which include productivity from the second half of 2025, overtime for extraordinary services, and hours from January and February of 2026. They have expressed their opposition to a recently approved agreement being breached, harming those who ensure security at the city's events.

"Extraordinary money is due to extraordinary effort. And our patience, which has been biblical in scale, has run out. If there are no bills, there are no events. If there are no solutions, there are no Cruces."
