The delegate of Human Resources for the Córdoba City Council has reiterated that the municipal corporation will fulfill its promise to settle overtime debts corresponding to 2025 events. This measure seeks to alleviate tensions arising from the threat by officers not to request additional shifts for the upcoming Cruces de Mayo, which could compromise the security of these festivities.
The municipal official expressed confidence that, once payments are made, officers will reconsider their stance, and maximum security will be guaranteed during the celebrations. She also noted that the agreement for these overtime payments, which came into effect in January 2026, will be applied retroactively to 2025, a point that has been a source of conflict.
“"My commitment was that all outstanding payments would be made in May, I stand by that, and barring anything beyond our control, it will be so."
Last week, unions such as Siplb, UGT, and CSIF publicly urged officers not to request overtime shifts starting from the Cruces de Mayo, and to withdraw from any already assigned. The unions denounced the lack of productivity payments for events like the Noche Blanca del Flamenco, the Feria, the Vía Crucis Magno, the Media Maratón, and Christmas services.
The City Council has emphasized that discussions with union sections are ongoing, and the commitment to pay the remaining amounts from 2025 in May, including events such as the Magna, Christmas, and the Media Maratón, is firm. It was highlighted that payments for May events and Holy Week 2025 have already been regularized.
