Local authorities have expressed their firm intention to preserve the traditional nature of the May Crosses, ensuring the celebration unfolds in an environment of quality and respect for residents. To achieve this, an extensive police deployment, similar to last year's effective operation, will be implemented.
“"We are not going to allow public drinking at the Cruces; I say this so that no one is misled."
The security operation will involve the Local Police, the National Police, the Civil Guard, and the force attached to the Junta de Andalucía. The Local Police alone will deploy 390 officers, strategically distributed throughout the festive days, with special reinforcement during peak attendance.
In addition to combating public drinking, significant efforts will be made to prevent alcohol sales to minors. Authorities have warned that controls in commercial establishments will be intensified to curb this practice, aiming to ensure harmonious coexistence and enjoyment of the festival without incidents related to improper alcohol consumption.
The sub-delegate of the Government in Córdoba has highlighted the excellent coordination among the various security forces. More than 300 alcohol and drug checkpoints are planned, to be conducted on a rotating basis to maximize effectiveness and deter those who might endanger road safety. The National Police will deploy 261 officers in the Historic Center, while the Civil Guard will provide a hundred Citizen Security agents and 75 Traffic Unit agents daily.
Furthermore, the resolution of labor tensions within the Local Police, related to unpaid extraordinary shifts from 2025, has been confirmed. Authorities have assured that delays were due to technical and IT issues, and the commitment is to regularize all outstanding payments, including those from Holy Week 2026, during the months of May, June, July, and August.
