Intense heat has settled over Córdoba, with forecasts from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) indicating that temperatures will not drop below 39 degrees Celsius until next Friday. This Sunday, similar to Saturday, an orange alert will be activated in the capital, with highs potentially reaching 40 degrees Celsius between 1:00 PM and 9:00 PM.
The upcoming week offers no significant respite. Most days are expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius or higher. The only exception will be Monday, with a forecast of 39 degrees, prompting the activation of a yellow alert. For other days, alerts have not been established with more than 72 hours' notice.
Maximum temperatures will continue to rise on Tuesday, with a forecast of 40 degrees Celsius. Wednesday is expected to see the mercury reach 41 degrees, and Thursday is shaping up to be the hottest day, with a threat of 42 degrees. On Friday, the last day for which Aemet has provided predictions, a symbolic slight decrease to 41 degrees is anticipated.
Nights will also offer little relief, with minimum temperatures ranging between 18 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and 22 degrees on Friday, necessitating the use of air conditioning systems.
