The cultural agenda of the Córdoba Archaeological Museum for April 2026 is presented as one of its most comprehensive and ambitious to date. The public will be able to enjoy three temporary exhibitions that address different aspects of Andalusian history and culture.
Among the exhibits, "Cooking in a Caliphate House" will be available in Vitrina 0 from February 17, 2026, to April 5, 2026. This exhibition displays archaeological pieces such as frying pans and pots, offering insight into domestic culinary practices during the Andalusian era. Additionally, the "Mural Painting" exhibition can be visited from April 7, 2026, to June 7, 2026, focusing on the conservation and artistic value of Almohad geometric ornamentation.
The exhibition "Averroes' Universe. Bronze, Silver and Almagra in Almohad Córdoba" will open its doors from April 9, 2026, to June 20, 2026. This exhibition commemorates the ninth centenary of Averroes' birth, exploring the material culture of Córdoba during the 12th and 13th centuries through bronze productions, coin minting, and fragments of mural painting. It is complemented by a diverse cultural program that includes conferences, workshops, and thematic visits.
In addition to the exhibitions, the museum will offer guided tours such as "Córdoba, Meeting of Cultures" every Sunday until June 28, 2026, at 12:00 PM. Special visits to the Averroes exhibition are also scheduled for Saturdays, April 11 and 18, at 11:00 AM, and a conference on the restoration of 12th-century mural paintings by restorers Irene Cabeza Megía and Sonia Bolea Alcaide on April 12 at 12:00 PM.
On April 15, to mark World Art Day, the Palacio de Jerónimo Páez and its archaeological courtyards will host a drawing day with Urban Sketchers Córdoba, including a children's workshop "Little Sketchers". On April 18 and 19, a ceramic modeling workshop inspired by a 12th-century Almohad lion will be held, aimed at participants over 14 years old. Finally, on April 26 at 12:00 PM, storyteller Paula Mandarina will offer a storytelling session for families, "Once Upon a Time", in commemoration of Book Day.
