The Los Califas 10k Popular Race, in its thirty-seventh edition, took place this Sunday in Córdoba, solidifying its position as a key event in the provincial circuit. The competition, which also held the status of Provincial 10k Championship on the road, saw the participation of a thousand athletes.
The event, featuring a new route, kicked off on Castello d’Empuries street, bringing vibrant energy to the early morning hours. Cash prizes for the top three finishers in both male and female categories encouraged a fast and competitive race from the outset.
In the male category, a runner from Club Trotasierra claimed victory, completing the 10 kilometers in 31 minutes and 10 seconds. His teammate secured second place with a time of 31 minutes and 32 seconds, while an athlete from Surco Lucena took third, clocking in at 32 minutes and 15 seconds.
Meanwhile, in the female category, a runner from Club Trotasierra Hornachuelos was the standout performer, crossing the finish line in 37 minutes and 35 seconds. She outpaced the second-place finisher, an athlete from Atletismo Cordobés, by over a minute, who recorded 38 minutes and 39 seconds. The third position went to another participant who finished in 38 minutes and 57 seconds.
Following this race, the provincial popular race circuit will continue next weekend with two significant events: the La Rambla Spring Popular Cross on Saturday, April 25, and the first Nueva Carteya Town Popular Race on Sunday, April 26. The Cordoban capital will host its next race on May 10 with the 44th María Auxiliadora Popular Race, Kiko Pastor Memorial.
