The Casa de la Cultura in Espiel hosted on September 30, 2026, the presentation of the ‘Somos Turismo WeODS Guadiato 2030’ distinction. This award recognizes 25 companies and entities from seven municipalities in the Valle del Guadiato for integrating sustainability criteria into their daily activities.
The event was attended by local authorities, led by the vice-president of the Mancomunidad de Municipios del Valle del Guadiato, Antonio Bejarano, along with mayors from the region, reaffirming unanimous support for the territory's socioeconomic development. Speakers included Antonio Bejarano and the president of CIC Batá, Rafael Cantero.
This recognition is part of the ‘Somos Turismo WeODS Guadiato 2030’ project, driven by CIC Batá with financial backing from the «la Caixa» Foundation and collaboration from the Mancomunidad de Municipios del Valle del Guadiato. The program aims to promote responsible tourism that generates employment and stimulates the economy, highlighting the region's rich cultural, natural, and gastronomic heritage.
Awardees include hospitality and accommodation establishments, cultural and heritage management initiatives, service companies, shops, artisan workshops, and local groups dedicated to heritage dissemination. Rafael Cantero, president of CIC Batá, thanked the participating organizations and municipalities, emphasizing that the event marks 'a further step in consolidating a network that will continue to grow in the coming years'.
