The Provincial Council of Cordoba, via the Provincial Institute for Economic Development (Iprodeco), has initiated a collaboration with the Rural Development Group (GDR) Valle del Guadiato. The project aims to enhance the region's native resources as a driver for economic development.
Félix Romero, delegate for Economic Development, Promotion, and Employment of the provincial institution, accompanied by the GDR president, Luis Bernal, detailed the initiative titled ‘Sabor a Córdoba y Espacios de Cine en el Guadiato’ (Taste of Cordoba and Cinema Spaces in Guadiato), which is part of the ‘Iprodesal’ aid line.
Romero emphasized that this alliance adds value to the endogenous resources of Guadiato, promoting its gastronomy to increase visibility, reinforce territorial identity, and create opportunities for businesses and local residents.
The campaign ‘Sabor a Córdoba en el Valle del Guadiato’ will be launched to strengthen the connection between restaurants and agri-food producers, thereby increasing the presence of local products in the culinary offerings.
Under the umbrella of ‘Córdoba de Cine’ (Cordoba by Cinema), a catalog of film locations in the region will be created, including emblematic sites such as the Castle of Belmez and the modernist mansion in Fuente Obejuna.
The objective is to introduce the richness of Guadiato to the citizens of Cordoba and to promote this area in the northern part of the province.
Romero concluded that by making the territory and its native products, particularly the dehesa (oak pastureland), known, they are given added value.
Luis Bernal, president of the GDR Valle del Guadiato, highlighted that this collaboration with the Provincial Council of Cordoba will advance two promotional lines focused on the region's own resources, representing an opportunity for economic, tourist, and business development.
Regarding ‘Sabor a Córdoba en el Valle del Guadiato’, Bernal explained that it will unite restaurateurs and producers through a gastronomic week where local products will be the main focus.
Additionally, the ‘Guadiato de Cine’ contest will be organized for high school students in the region, aiming to enhance knowledge and appreciation of the landscape while generating audiovisual material for promoting the territory as a filming location.
